The Sydney a Heritage Fleet contacted us.......
Sydney Heritage Fleet, now in its 50th year ( www.shf.org.au ), is a unique Sydney maritime organisation which rescues, restores and operates a fleet of heritage marine vessels. Our seminal project is the 30 year restoration and regular operation of the 19th century square rigged sailing barque James Craig, launched in 1874, and one of only four barques in the world from the 19th century still capable of sailing. Sydney Heritage Fleet is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2015 (https://www.facebook.com/sydneyheritagefleet).
We would like to extend an invitation to the Double Bay Sailing Club Members to help us celebrate this milestone by:
- enjoying the unique experience of sailing an authentic 19th century square rigged sailing ship at sea, on regular offshore day sails, as members of our all-volunteer crew. (http://www.shf.org.au/education-training/courses-training/james-craig-new-crew-introduction-course).
- inviting one of our panel of volunteer speakers to speak about the Fleet, with emphasis on the restoration and sailing of the James Craig (speakersbureau@shf.org.au)
- or considering holding a function on one of our heritage vessels (info@shf.org.au) 9298 3888 or visit, as a group for a Fish’n’Ships tour – see http://www.shf.org.au/whats-on/fish-n-ships-tour which includes a tour of James Craig, a short harbour cruise on one of our smaller vessels and a tour of our heritage shipyard operations in Rozelle Bay followed by lunch at the Fish Markets.
In particular, we would be most grateful if you could mention the volunteer crew sailing opportunity and the fact that we offer Gift Certificates for a unique experience such as an offshore day cruise on James Craig or on one of our other heritage treasures by phoning 9298 3888.
Thank you for your consideration.
