We race ILCA / Laser dinghies on the glorious waters of Sydney Harbour all-year-round.

Racing at Double Bay Sailing Club is on every Saturday from 1 August to 30 April, with a break at Christmas. Races start promptly at 1:00pm in August, and at 2:00pm from September to April. Pre-season starts in August with the official season starting on the first Saturday in September.

We aim to conduct two 45-minute races back-to-back each Saturday. For more information, please refer to the Sailing Instructions. Compulsory pre-race safety briefing commences in the clubhouse 60-minutes prior to the race start.

During daylight savings (October - April), informal racing occurs on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm. We typically race short sprints using permanent markers in the harbour with focus on race starts, tactics, and boat handling. On Thursdays we run a windward leeward course with an on-water coach for subscribers.

Yes, we sail in the winter (which is more like a British summer!) Racing starts at 8:15am on Sunday mornings from May to July.

Either subscribe to the racing calendar on your phone or view the racing calendar directly in Google.

DBSC supports the NSW Laser Association and encourages our members to attend official regattas, where possible. As such, we don't contest point score or club championship events in conflict with regattas. We host informal sprint racing on those days for those that do not attend the regattas.

As well as state and international regattas, we also race against our friends and neighbours at Vaucluse Yacht Club in the Challenge Series. Each club takes turns to host a day of inter-club racing, with fleet results tallied across those two days to calculate who wins the “Shield”, awarded to the best overall club. Individual sailors also compete for the "Inter-club Champion" title. It’s high quality, competitive racing in good spirits; and fortunately DBSC has held the title for a few seasons now.

We expect everyone to comply with the racing rules of sailing ("RRS").  Our links page has some additional resources to help members understand the RRS.
