CCTV SECURITY AT THE CLUB

CCTV cameras will be used inside the clubhouse in areas deemed appropriate by the Club Committee. No cameras will provide footage of the changerooms or toilets. Signage will be erected and maintained at the entrance to the club, advising people that CCTV is in use. CCTV cameras will record movements within the clubhouse and its surrounds, and recordings may be retained indefinitely. CCTV footage may only be accessed in approved circumstances by approved personnel. Approved personnel are as determined by the Club Committee from time to time. Initial approved personnel are the Commodore, the Secretary, and the Property Officers.

Approved circumstances are as follows:

  • Where a crime or tort is known or reasonably suspected to have occurred in an area covered by the cameras.

  • Where property has been lost and the loss is reasonably believed to have occurred in an area covered by the cameras.

  • Where property has been damaged and/or injury has occurred and the incident is reasonably believed to have occurred in an area covered by the cameras.

  • Where a dispute has arisen and it is reasonably believed camera footage could assist in its resolution.

  • In case of emergency where it is reasonably believed camera footage is relevant.

  • Where required by law or relevant authority, or where reasonably requested by relevant authority.

  • Any other circumstances authorised by the Club Committee.

In the discretion of the Club Committee, footage may be provided to parties external to the club. Such parties could include police, other relevant authorities, professional advisers, and the club’s insurers / insurance broker. By their use of the clubhouse, members consent to the use of CCTV in accordance with this policy.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DBSC and members of the Club Committee will not be liable for any loss or damage howsoever caused (including from negligence) as a result of: a) CCTV use in the clubhouse, b) any recording of footage or failure to record footage, c) non-adherence to this policy, d) actions taken in respect of recorded footage where the persons taking such actions believed on reasonable grounds that such actions were in accordance with this policy.
