We’re all a little bit excited as it’s just over 10 weeks, or 72 days to be exact until we hit the water We’re working hard on finalising the Notice of Race which should be published very soon, so stay tuned. If you haven’t already completed the Expression of Interest form, please do so HERE. The information you provide will help us in the planning of the regatta and ensure that it’s a good one. Tip of the Week Have you ever wondered how to make a Laser go faster or how to get off the start line with clear air or even how to roll tack in light winds? The Laser is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques, as well as tactical excellence and because its a One Design class means that, in theory, whether you have a new boat or one 10 years old, winning a race comes down to the sailor not the boat. Based on your feedback, each week we are going to share some 'tips and tricks' to sailing the Laser. Things you might be able to practise in your training program in the lead up to The Women's Regatta that could give you a competitive advantage to winning one of those special pink medals in September. In preparation for getting back into your Laser after a winter break, it might be a good time to go over your boat. There is nothing worse than breaking things during a regatta or finding out you are carrying extra water due to a leak in the boat, so it might be time to service your boat. Learn how to do it HERE. There are over 120 countries sailing the Laser dinghy, and the NSW/ACT Laser Association falls under the ILCA Oceania Laser Region. The association offers many opportunities for keen sailors to take part in regattas all over the world but focuses their efforts on 4 key state events annually.
