Volly of the week!

Guest User

Double Bay Sailing Club is managed and run entirely by volunteers. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work. There is always work to be done in the upkeep of our shed and the ongoing running of dinghy racing.

This week we’d like to thank Richard George. Richard has filled the holes in our lawn nearest the concrete semi-circle. This has taken 9 bags of dirt, grass seeds, grass runners and fencing off the area. It has been a big and much needed job! Thanks to Richard for doing this on his own initiative.

PLEASE DO NOT WASH BOATS ON THE CONCRETE SEMI-CIRCLE!!! ONLY WASH BOATS AT THE TOP OF THE BOAT RAMP and be mindful of other sailors trying to get off the water and up the ramp.

The club is full of people making wonderful contributions around the place, and sometimes behind the scenes. Let us know who deserves a mention!

Race report 30 April 2022

Guest User

The club championship season finale was a fizzer on Saturday, with insufficient breeze to run a race despite an enthusiastic turn out of sailors. Perhaps this was the success of Rod Barnes’ hoist training? Or perhaps it was the interest in finding out the source of Mark Gray’s leak?

Once racing was called off at 1530, Pat Levy and Peter Collie fired up the barbecue for one last steak and sausage sizzle for the season.

Many thanks to everyone who turned up for duties on the day – Michael Osborne (PRO), Steve London (LTRAR), James Tudball (COTD) and Tory Epworth (CoCOTD). Assisting Paul and Shirley in the canteen were Vic Whitby and Mark Gray, with Peter Collie on post barbecue clean up detail.

A preview of the season’s winners is available on our website, and the prizegiving will be at the AGP (make sure you RSVP).

This weekend

Guest User

This weekend we swing into the winter series, which means racing is now on SUNDAY morning.

Each week races will count for both a championship and pointscore series, with three races each Sunday.

The briefing will be at 07:45am, with launch by 08:00 for the first warning signal at 08:30.

Be sure to familiarise yourself with the winter format in the Sailing Instructions

Paul Adam will provide delicious soup to warm us up after racing each week.

Visitors are welcome to join at no cost and can launch their boats from the park at DSBC if this is more convenient for them.
