Spring Point Score Races 11 & 12
Report by Geoff Kirk
Saturday morning greeted us with rain, and poor visibility on the harbour, but by the time the afternoon came around the rain had cleared, and a steady 10-15 knot NE had filled in nicely.
The on-water team was Brendan Pollard on Jazzman. Hadrien Bourely and Michael Morris carrying out COTD duties, Dave Newman as RIB Reserve (and looking very glamorous on the new RIB). Thank you very much for the help, it led to a very stress-free day.
Race 11
In the Radial rig Kerryn Smith had the win, followed by Jim Dounis, and Scott Hunter (he had a solid day on scratch) in 3rd.
In the Full rig, commodore Steve London was first, followed by Tim Heath, and Murray Stone in 3rd. Sylvie Stanage kindly asked if she could join in with the full rigs, I said it was okay only if she respected the fragile middle-aged male egos she was dealing with, and to go easy on them. Of course, she paid no attention to me and gave them all a good spanking in her Radial rig. Rod Barnes could hold his head high, and he fought gallantly to the end, but to no avail.
Race 12
In the 2nd race Kerryn Smith had another win in the radial rig, followed by Roberto Blum, and jim Dounis.
In the full rig there was a slight delay as one of the vintage 18's decided to take the start pin for a ride. Hadrien and Michael promptly returned it to the right position, and we were underway. Something had to go wrong, the day was going way to well. Tim Heath got the win, followed by Grant Lovelady, and Craig Sheers.
Again, thanks to all the on-water team, and the good-spirited sailors who made for a great day.
