60 Seconds With Mina Ferguson…
Kirk Marcolina
We’re featuring another one of our incredible youth sailors today, Mina Ferguson. This is the last of the profiles we have from members who have sent in responses for our 60 Seconds column.
We’ve enjoyed getting to know our fellow members a bit better, and we’d love to keep this feature going. If you haven’t shared your answers yet, we’d like to hear from you. Send your responses and photos to Newsletter Editor Kirk Marcolina HERE.
1. How old were you when you first stepped on a boat?
I was probably 3 when first stepped foot on a boat, but was 8 years old when I first went on a dingy
2. If money (& sailing ability) were no limit, what boat would you buy?
I would definitely buy a 49er fx as they look super fun and challenging. Would love a supermaxi too!
3. What is your sailing goal?
I don't have a specific goal with sailing, just to push myself as hard as I can, continue for the rest of my life and to have plenty of fun.
4. Tell us the back story to your laser's name?
My laser is called 'wow I sail' as this is a joke I have with my school friends. They sarcastically ask me 'wow do you sail?' all the time, hence inspiring the name.
5. If you could add any ingredient to our already world’s best toasties – what would it be?
That's an impossible one, no ingredient could improve them!
6. What are your second/ third favourite hobbies (obviously assuming sailing holds the #1 spot).
I love playing other sports including netball and volleyball.
7. Describe what you do for work in less than 5 words?
A student who occasionally coaches
8. What’s the first international flight you are going to book post Covid-19? And why?
Post Covid I'd book a flight straight to Italy, as Lake Garda is my dream sailing location. The views are amazing!
9. What’s your favourite TV show, movie, and or book?
I couldn't pick a favourite tv show, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Suits are among my favourites.
10. Tell us something interesting about yourself that members of the club don’t know?
I have two very cute miniature schnauzers called Max and Gemima.
