Winter Sprints off to a Hot Start

August means Winter Sprint Racing at DBSC. Last Saturday 25 sailors presented for the first in the month-long series, including three visitors from VYC. There were quite a few “tired and emotional” individuals post the Season Opening Dinner! (Latest known bed time of those present and sailing was 9am. Not Pat this time…)
The winds proved to be a bit of a challenge, with a westerly with a lot of left in it and a difficult top mark under Clark Island. Add to that, there were 5 knot holes in the middle of the course and 20+ knot bullets from the left and right. Despite the difficult conditions, David Huber set an excellent course solo and gave us 6 x 20min races for a massive 2hrs racing time. Hats off to him and to Paul and Andrea for staffing the canteen – toasties before and soup afterwards – a perfect accompaniment to the afternoon. More Sprints are on again this Saturday afternoon – we hope to see you then.
